University Foundation Course.
CAMBRIDGE Examinations and IELTS Exam preparation.
Many international students
struggle at degree level because of poor English and lack of study skills.
The English for University Purposes (EAP) foundation programme is designed
to prepare you for life and study for a degree at a British university. We
focus on the language skills you will need to be a successful student at
undergraduate or postgraduate level, and the cultural awareness which will
help you to adapt to life in Britain..
Minimum
age: 16 years at arrival
Group size: Average 5
students
Entry levels: There are four levels of entry.
The length of your foundation course depends on your level of English when
you join. Each course has two starting dates in each year. Students will
be assessed on the first day of tuition to confirm their level.
The difference we do make however is an
age difference as there is nothing more frustrating than someone half your age answering all the teacher's questions that split -second faster. Most of us need a couple of seconds longer in later
years. For this reason people of all ages can visit us at any time
but will be put in separate teaching and activity groups upon arrival. Age
will also be taken into consideration in the choice of the host
family. When booking please therefore choose:-
Course K for participants between 11 and 14 ( Specially qualified
group leaders are used here). Course J for participants between 15
and 17,
Course H for participants between 18 and 35,
Course E for participants between 36 and 60 and
Course S for participants over 60. If you don't mind being with people of
other ages please mark the relevant boxes or don't mark any box. IELTS
for any age, TEFL for over 18
We
guarantee that
if you start your course at the right level,
you will have the confidence
and ability to succeed at degree level
by the time you graduate from
our foundation programme.
Each 9 term can act either
as a freestanding certificated course or as part of a progression towards
university entry. Successful completion of the 2-, 3-, and 4-term courses
will be awarded by the Cambridge College Diploma.
Hours:
Most Colleges offer several different quantities of
hours during the week We do not.! We offer 4 x classroom
lessons from Monday to Friday (except national holidays) and compliment this with sports,
excursions and group activities in the afternoon and weekends.
What's the point of staying with a family if you never see them or
of being in a country if you never see it and get a chance to
practice what you have learnt. We believe our course to be
so well- balanced for optimal learning that more or less lessons
would not be correct An afternoon walking through the town centre in a place like
Stratford upon Avon brings the participant the much needed practice
time without exhausting them as another 4 hours in the classroom
would. This leaves them fresh for the next day's 4 hours of
classroom learning. Our aim is to send the participant home with
an interest in the country, people and language and a motivation
to go on with a newfound self-motivation to continue learning the
language. This would certainly not be the case were the
participant to be subjected to even more stress here with us than
they already have at home.
