University Placement Service

Britain has many excellent universities, as well as Cambridge, and many thousands of degree programmes, and choosing and applying for a suitable programme can be challenging, particularly for an international student.

All of the schools, colleges and universities are happy to accept students from us who have achieved good grades in their IELTS test. We have a range of university contacts and they will be pleased to give you advice, or we assist you with one of our professional university educational advisors who can help you.

Cambridge College University Placements is an educational organisation based in our foreign students department which offers a specialist application and information service for international students seeking to enter a university in Britain. CCUP can

  • complete the necessary application forms for you (postgraduate, undergraduate or foundation)
  • advise you and help you to find degree courses that meet your needs
  • advise you on the University papers you need to support your application
  • check and edit the personal statements in your application
  • send properly completed and supported application forms to the universities you have chosen
  • ensure that they reach the right university office, and on time
  • monitor the progress of your applications, and remain your one point of contact for all your university applications
  • ensure that you receive a prompt decision from each institution
  • continue to offer post-application advice until enrolment
  • forward letters of acceptance to enable you to apply for your study visa
  • There are no official UK university rankings, although some national newspapers compile their own league tables using a range of indicators that may include subject review results. To provide further, independent assurance, the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA)

From the University year 2000-01 the QAA introduced a new method of UK university rankings and quality assurance, called 'University review'. This brought together into one integrated system the different review methods previously used in Scotland, Wales and England/Northern Ireland. University review was implemented in Scotland from the start of the University year 2000-01, and in the rest of the UK from January 2002.

New sources of information about higher education are becoming available, including:

    • qualifications frameworks that provide information about the expectations of higher education qualifications at different levels and make the use of qualification titles more consistent, and thus easier to compare
    • subject benchmark statements that define in broad terms what can be expected of an honours graduate in each subject area
    • programme specifications that describe in detail what knowledge, understanding, skills and career prospects should be achieved by successful students in specific programmes of study. Some universities and colleges already publish programme specifications on their web sites
    • progress files that record students' individual achievements.

Other work carried out by the QAA includes reviewing partnerships between UK institutions and international providers; advising Government on applications for degree awarding powers and university title; and licensing and reviewing the agencies that validate Access to HE course provision in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

    • The registration fee for students enquiring through the Cambridge College web site is just £150.00, representing a discount of £25.00 on the standard rate of £175.00. If you decide not to use the service there is of course nothing to pay.

If you would like to  contact Cambridge College University Placements, please email ccup@cambridge-college.org  who will offer information and advice free of charge, but will charge a registration fee before working on and submitting applications.
