Using a property finder is a relatively new method of sourcing your home overseas. There are two main alternatives to using a finder which many buyers, unaware of this more cost effective option, still use. Many buyers join an inspection visit with a real estate agent which is often subsidised and looks to be an attractive option. They claim to be independent and look after the buyer’s interests, but this is rarely the case and normally only show you the properties on which they receive the best commission. After all, their fee is paid by the vendor to whom they have an obligation to obtain the highest possible price. This fee has been included in the price which, by necessity, increases the asking price of the property.
